Silence of the North is a 1981 Canadian film starring Tom Skerritt, Gordon Pinsent, and Ellen Burstyn. The three main actors were nominated for Genie Awards, as was the director, Allan King.
Originally, the movie was set to be called by the title theme, "Comes a Time" by country singer Lacy J. Dalton (Neil Young cover), but at the last minute was retitled. Even though it was a box office flop, a combination of the song winning an award and pay-TV service SelecTV picking it up 18 months later for its evening lineup, the film developed a cult following which remains to this day.
